As a wedding photographer, I have taken part in many fun projects. In the summer of 2024, the internet buzzed with the fusion of “brat summer” and a renewed appreciation for all things “demure.” This cultural blend inspired a vibrant wedding editorial at Washington D.C.’s historic Meridian House, artfully balancing playful exuberance with timeless sophistication.

Venue: Meridian House
Meridian House, renowned for its French urban architecture and lush gardens, provided an elegant backdrop that seamlessly integrated with the shoot’s modern, colorful design elements.
Design and Florals
The creative collaboration featured event designer Grit & Grace and floral artist Max Owens Design. The design showcased vibrant hues—pinks, oranges, and greens—adding contemporary vibrancy to the classic setting. Max Owens‘ floral arrangements were central to the aesthetic, introducing a modern flair to the stately courtyard.
Bridal Fashion
The bride’s attire combined edgy and elegant elements, featuring a slinky satin gown from Carine’s Bridal paired with a bright green bouquet, embodying both the “brat” and “demure” themes.
Reception Details
The reception was set against the antique ambiance of Meridian House’s library, with vibrant green tablescapes and modern décor from Something Vintage. The juxtaposition of contemporary design within a historic venue highlighted the editorial’s theme of blending modern exuberance with classic elegance.

This editorial captured the essence of merging contrasting cultural aesthetics. It showcased how historic venues like Meridian House can be transformed with bold, modern designs to create a unique and memorable wedding experience.
