Here’s what you can generally expect within different price ranges:
- $3,000 – $4,000: At this level, you’ll find photographers who are newer to the industry but are hard at work building portfolios. While they may have less experience, they are eager to develop their portfolio and can bring a unique approach to your wedding photos. This can sometimes be risky because of the lack of experience and expertise. I know we all start somewhere, and I am so thankful for those who took a risk on me when I started. However, please do your research. I cannot tell you how many times I have read in groups the many cases of companies ghosting and having no communication after the initial payment has been made. If it’s too good to be true, it often is!
- $4,500 – $7,500: Many established photographers fall within this range. They bring a balance of experience, technical skill, and creative vision. These photographers often include an engagement session, multiple hours of coverage, and an assistant or second shooter to ensure every moment of your day is captured. The starting price can begin with 6 hours of coverage. While you are getting a photographer with more experience, they often book weddings at higher volumes, which can affect the level of personalized experience if that is something high on your priority list.
- $8,000 and Up. Investing in a photographer at this level often means hiring a seasoned professional with a well-defined style and a strong reputation. They have also worked on building relationships and have built a team of reputable second photographers, so you know you have a solid team on your side. They understand how to capture the day’s emotions in a way that feels authentic to you. This range may also include luxury add-ons such as custom albums, fine art prints, and extended hours of coverage.

We have not discussed the ultra-luxurious level of wedding photography, which is the level many of my mentors are in, and can I say it is a serious goal? Most luxury wedding photographers start around $20,000+ and offer a level of expertise and service that goes beyond standard photography packages. These photographers often provide a more bespoke experience with custom offerings and multiday coverage with an entire team.
